Privacy policy

East Hills Medical Centre is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal health information in accordance with Alberta’s Health Information Act and applicable privacy legislation.

Personal information you send through this website — the contact form, the new patient registration form, the FAQ chat, or a live chat with clinic staff — is used only to respond to your enquiry or to register you as a patient. Please do not send symptoms, test results or other health details through the website; bring them to your visit or discuss them by phone instead.

Where it is kept. Enquiries and registrations are stored on the clinic's own infrastructure and are read by clinic staff only. What a new patient registration contains — date of birth, home address, Alberta Health Care card number, UCI and insurance details — is never sent by email; the clinic receives only a notification that a registration has arrived, with a reference and a number to call you back on. The same is true of a chat enquiry left while staff are offline: the message stays on the clinic's system and is not emailed.

Chat features. Messages you send in the FAQ chat are processed by an automated assistant so it can answer using the clinic’s published information. Messages you send in a live chat are stored so a staff member can read and reply to them. Neither chat is a medical record and neither is a substitute for speaking to a clinician.

Information shared during a clinical visit is recorded in your medical chart and handled according to the clinic’s confidentiality policies. You have the right to request access to, or correction of, your health records.
